Fool's Journey

In tarot, The Fool is the first card in the deck and marks the beginning of a journey.

Carrying only what she needs, lifting her chin to the sun, and with her loyal dog by her feet, she trusts that the next step will appear. She doesn’t know the way, but she is willing to begin.

It’s a card I’ve been thinking about after my conversation with Jenny Altoro, a medium and tarot reader who helps people understand their patterns, process blockages, and access their intuition. Her work isn’t so much about predicting the future, it’s about seeing clearly now.

“Sometimes people ask me when something will happen,” she said. “But it's not about time. It's about what you need to learn first.”

That’s a word.

Last week, we marked the summer solstice. The longest day of the year is a moment of light, warmth, and abundance, but also a turning point.

From here, the days almost imperceivably shorten, and we start the journey back to the dark. Moment by moment, these evenings when we feel the sun on our face will soon become cold and dark.

There’s such power in this cycle. We get to carry the light with us. We get to decide what the warmth of summer means to us, long after the sun fades early.

And when that time comes, we can embrace the cold and the dark, recognizing their value in the cycle.

And maybe that’s what The Fool, and this season of quietly disappearing light, are asking us: Can you stay open and warm? Can you let curiosity and growth guide you instead of fear?

If you’re open to it…

What intention would you set today if you weren’t afraid of what could go wrong? What if it all worked out better than you imagined?

Cheers to the leap and the light.

xoxo,

Meghan
