Meet David Bedford, Beatles historian, author, and speaker

ree

David Bedford is a Liverpool-born Beatles historian, author, and speaker whose life has been intertwined with the Fab Four from the very beginning. Growing up in the Dingle—just down the road from Ringo Starr’s birthplace—David attended the same schools as Ringo, Billy Fury, and, briefly, Alf Lennon. Later, he and his wife Alix raised their three daughters near Penny Lane, sending them to the same school once attended by John Lennon and George Harrison.

In 2000, a diagnosis of fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis ended David’s career but sparked a new passion. Encouraged by his doctor to keep his mind active, he began writing for the British Beatles Fan Club. His deep dive into Beatles history led to his first book, Liddypool: Birthplace of The Beatles (2009), which became a bestseller and has gone through multiple editions.

David went on to publish The Fab One Hundred and Four: The Evolution of The Beatles (2013), serve as historian and associate producer on the documentary Looking for Lennon, and co-author Finding the Fourth Beatle, chronicling all 23 drummers who played with the band. He also ventured into fiction with his Liverpool-based crime novel Inspector Rocke.

His work has taken him to Beatles events, conventions, and festivals across the UK, Europe, and the US, earning him a reputation as one of the most passionate and knowledgeable chroniclers of the Beatles’ story.
