Ghosts and Stars

Updated: Oct 26

Every now and then, a guest says something that stays with me long after the recording. This week, it was Dr. Cailín Murray, an anthropologist at Ball State University who studies the intersection of folklore, belief, and the stories we tell about what haunts us.

“It’s not whether you believe in ghosts or not. We’re all made up of ghosts because we carry their DNA.”

Isn’t that great?!

So maybe, we’re all a little haunted, too.

Not by rattling chains or flickering lights, but by the lessons we keep meeting until we finally learn them. A great-paying job that drains us. A relationship that hovers but never lands. That project we keep waiting to start (or finish) until we’re “ready.”

Haunted by decisions we’ve made or failed to make.

The ghosts of our unlearned lessons return not to scare us, but to remind us:

you’ve been here before, and this time you can choose differently.

✨ If you’re open to it...think about something that keeps resurfacing in your life. Maybe it’s a project, habit, or situation that feels like déjà vu.

What might it be trying to teach you?

What would you feel like to learn the lesson?

How would your life be different?
