Did you watch the most recent season of White Lotus? I loved it. Each season offers a voyeuristic glimpse into characters navigating wealth, loneliness, and longing in breathtaking locales. Of the many themes, transformation of identity (or lack thereof) threads through all three seasons. This season begins with the voiceover, “identity is a prison.” In the case of White Lotus guests, no matter how grand the gilded cage they build for themselves to assuage and remove discomfort - life is suffering. It’s how we respond to that suffering and adversity and discomfort that we grow and flex and find beauty.

Grapes serve as the perfect metaphor for this process. Grown from the soil, nurtured by the sun, heat, and rain, then crushed and aged in darkness, they emerge transformed into wine. This week's conversation with Nick Elliott (aka The Wine Guy) wasn’t just about wine—it was about curiosity, life’s everyday adventures, and how shared experiences, like travel and taste, can connect us in unexpected ways. Whether it's sipping something new at a local restaurant or stepping into a different culture, there's power in letting those moments teach us something. The world expands—and if we let it, so do we.
There’s something magical about the way travel (both local or afar) can uncork parts of ourselves we didn’t even know were bottled up. The unfamiliar and the unexpectedly new within the familiar invites us to slow down. Notice. Connect in the moment. Unfamiliar settings, unplanned adventures, and the people who cross our paths are all new pieces in the mosaic of our lives.
I have two varietals for you this week if you’re open to it….(I’ll see myself out)
We reflected on how we respond to the constant surprise that is life, but take a moment to reflect and honor your favorite rituals. Perhaps there’s a ritual you want to start….try it this week and see how that feels.
If your life right now were a bottle of wine or a box of tea, what would the label description read?
xoxo,
Meghan
PS: Perhaps my favorite part of the White Lotus franchise is the conversation and reflection afterward. But I didn’t understand the point of Fabian this season - what are your thoughts on his role?
